Some know him as “Pastor Van”. Others simply call him “Pas”. At The Worship Center in Birmingham, AL, apart from the title he carries, he is known and respected as the Founder and Senior Pastor. Since his days of young, he has been ministering to those near and far. His voice has been heard around the world including, but not limited to: The 30th Anniversary of the March on Washington, “The Decade to Overcome Violence” Conference of the World Council of Churches in Berlin, Germany, with the late Pope John Paul II and his Pontifical Council in Rome, Italy and at the Love Fellowship Tabernacle in Capetown, South Africa alongside Bishop Hezekiah Walker. Also, as a part of Dr. John Maxwell’s leadership organization, EQUIP, Pastor Van serves a Trainer in Tokyo, Japan.
A native of Atlanta, GA, Pastor Van graduated from the historic Frederick Douglass High School. Through the years, he has matriculated at some of the most well-known and historic universities in the world. Pastor Van obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy & Religion from DePauw University and his Masters of Divinity in Ethics from the Interdenominational Theological Center. He has completed post-graduate studies at Harvard University in Business, Economic and Community Development and at Oxford University in Oxford, England.
But in March 2006, God arrested Pastor Van attention and led him to establish The Worship Center Christian Church. Beginning with a mere 20 members, today The Worship Center has grown to well over 6000. Through Pastor Van’s teachings, Birmingham and beyond are experiencing a fresh encounter with God. His powerful and penetrating teachings and writings touch the hearts of those young and old, Black and White, wealthy and less fortunate and all those who are simply in need of a blessing.
Pastor Van is the author of three books: The Blueprint for Your Prosperity, Basic Training: The Seven Essentials for Spiritual Maturity, and The Living Word for Living Life: God’s Path to Success in Every Situation. His “Inspirational Vitamin” is heard every morning on The Steve Harvey Morning Show in Birmingham. And amidst all his travels, writings and ministry advancements, he still makes time for those most dear to him: his wife, Dr. Ty and their two lovely kids, Eden Sydney and Ethan Isaiah.
