Pastor Vanable H. Moody II, affectionately known as "Pastor Van,” is the Founder and Senior Pastor of The Worship Center Christian Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Since being led to establish the ministry in March of 2006, The Worship Center has grown at an astounding pace, from 20 members to over 4000 members in less than three years. The City of Birmingham and the State of Alabama is experiencing a fresh and anointed move of God through The Worship Center.
From the young age of eighteen, Pastor Van has ministered the Word of God, both diligently and faithfully, to individuals from all walks of life. His voice has been heard in various arenas nationally and internationally. These arenas include but are not limited to: The 30th Anniversary of the March on Washington, The Black Women in Church and Society (BWCS) Think Tank, The Decade to Overcome Violence Conference of the World Council of Churches in Berlin, Germany and with the late Pope John Paul II and his Pontifical Council in Rome, Italy. He was recently featured in Monarch magazine’s March – May’s edition in an article titled “Delivering the Word.” Currently, Pastor Van is heard every morning on The Steve Harvey Morning Show and during the Donnie McClurkin Show on Sunday mornings in Birmingham. He is the author of three books, The Blueprint For Your Prosperity, Basic Training: The Seven Essentials for Spiritual Maturity, and The Living Word for Living Life: Gods Path to Success in Every Situation. Pastor Van also currently serves as Trainer in Tokyo, Japan for Dr. John Maxwell’s leadership organization, EQUIP.
A graduate of the historic Frederick Douglass High School in Atlanta, Pastor Van obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy & Religion from DePauw University. He earned his Masters of Divinity in Ethics from the Interdenominational Theological Center and has completed post-graduate studies at Harvard University in Business, Economic and Community Development. He most recently completed additional post-graduate studies at Oxford University in Oxford, England. It was this education, experience and authority from God that led Pastor Van to Birmingham to ultimately start the ministry so boldly referred to as "The Worship Center Christian Church.” His mission is simply to transform our nation and impact the world through poignant, powerful and penetrating teaching, writing and speaking. Under his leadership, the ministry has expanded into two campuses; one located in the Northeast section of Birmingham and the other in Shelby County, just South of Birmingham. As he strives to be a blessing to the body of Christ, build the kingdom of God, and empower the membership of The Worship Center along with the city of Birmingham and state of Alabama, he is blessed in marriage with his wife, Dr. Ty Moody and they are the proud parents of two lovely kids, Eden Sydney and Ethan Isaiah.
